When creating an email campaign, the sender configuration plays a key role in how your messages are received. A properly defined sender improves both your open rate and your recipients’ trust.
In User.com you can choose between three sender setup methods for your email campaigns. Let’s explore each of them to help you decide which works best for your goals.
If your company uses an external email provider such as Amazon SES or Mailgun, you can connect it with your User.com account to send campaigns through your own SMTP service.
In this setup User.com handles the campaign sending process, while your chosen provider ensures message deliverability. Metrics such as hard bounce, soft bounce, and spam bounce will be visible in your provider’s dashboard.
To set up your SMTP account:
Go to Settings → Workspace Settings → Emails → SMTP Settings.
Follow the step-by-step setup instructions provided there. [LINK]
If you want replies to go directly to your User.com Conversations panel, use your app email address in the “reply-to” field. Learn more here. [LINK TO THE ARTICLE]
This is the option that you have by default since the very beginning of the app usage. You can test the email with this configuration since the first day of trial.
The email address of the sender is created from name of the user + surname + @userengage-mail.com ending
E.g.: john.smith@userengage-mail.com
The “reply-to address” is automatically taken from the User’s profile, so replies will go directly to the user’s inbox (not to the app).
This option combines the advantages of both previous methods. You can connect your company domain with your User.com account and create multiple sender profiles under it.
This approach increases recipient trust since the emails come from your recognized company domain. Our SMTP provider (EmailLabs) ensures high deliverability and campaign stability.
You can track bounce metrics directly within Campaigns → Emails.
To configure this method:
Ensure you have access to your domain settings.
Follow the DNS setup and validation steps within the app described in this article. [LINK TO ARTICLE]
Go to Settings → Workspace Settings → Email → Domains → Sender List and create the senders you want to use for upcoming campaigns.
Choose from these senders during the final step of campaign creation.
When creating a sender, define the reply-to address as in the Custom SMTP setup. You can use your company inbox, a user’s address, or the app email address if you want replies routed to your Conversations panel.
Now you know about various possibilities to setup a proper sender for your email campaigns in User.com
Default System SMTP can be used for test deliveries only.
